The guys have been very busy for the past two weeks completing the final roofing details and have started the smooth finishing of the exterior walls.
In this post we’ll also introduces some the the additions and modification we have made to the original Casa Pixán design.
Love to hear your feedback in the comments.
- We have one full face of the building covered. Quite a tediously slow process (4 days) but the results look amazing.
- I've added concrete window coverings to minimize the possibility of rain hitting the windows directly. An added bonus is that they also work well as a window shade.
- Middle floor : Laundry room on left, bathroom and the taller window on the right is beside the built in desk in bedroom #1
- As planned, a large window to let in plenty of natural light into the kitchen area. We are also introducing the addition of three diamond side lights into the dining room area for additional natural light.

- We have placed the side lights up high on the wall to achieve the most light while still providing a working wall space for some local artwork or a display table of some sort.
- Unit 4 - top floor private patio space. Here we can see another new addition to the building design : we've incorporated a nice built-in garden area at the side edge of the patio for some colorful vegetation that will also provide additional privacy screening.

- The guys are up on the roof top putting down the last coat of sealer/ smooter to level the surface. We will be ready to put down the water proofing and skylights any day.
- Some of the tools used to prepare and finish the roof. I'm impressed with finish detail. The small 45 degree sloping at the bottom seams simple enough but it's not always done.
- Some of the tools used to prepare and finish the roof. The basic flat trowel is what's used for 90% of the concrete work.
- I will admit that the safety regulations are a little more relaxed here in Mexico but even I was surprised by their footwear.
- The roof has four separate levels of concrete and this is the main ingredient in the final top coat.
- New addition of six skylights over the main stairwell Each opening will finish out at 40cmx40cm. Left : Looking to Unit 3 top floor back patio. Middle: Top of stair looking out bedroom #3. Right : View ascending the staircase .
